Schrader Tyre Valve

I have put these notes here as it took me some time to find this information when I needed it and I thought it may help others who may also be in need.

The Schrader tyre valve was invented in the USA during 1898 by August Schrader working with Charles Goodyear. August’s son, George, is generally credited with the experimental work that resulted in the valve's creation.

The standard Schrader valve has the following thread in UNS form:

External Thread

* IMPERIAL: 0.305 in OD, thread root diameter 0.302 in x 32 tpi (threads per inch)

Internal Thread (the valve core)

* IMPERIAL: 0.209 in OD x 36 tpi.

0.302" High speed steel taps and dies are available which serves as a very suitable substitute for the 0.305" size.
0.209"High speed steel taps and dies are available
